Production Engineer Salary: £38,250 – £47,895

Please note: only applicants with the full-time, permanent right to work in the UK will be considered for the Production Engineer position.

 

Production Engineer Overview:

• Support technical input into quotes, then own engineering support once orders land
• Engineer reinforcement kits, tooling patterns and machined metallic/composite components from 2D/3D data
• Drive DFM and kit optimisation through the engineering phase
• Build BOMs and routings in MRP, and release clear shopfloor work instructions
• Support CNC programmers, shopfloor problem-solving, and occasional customer visits for kit updates

 

This Production Engineer role sits within a manufacturing business that provides a full service from design/engineering through to parts manufacture and final assembly. You’ll act as the technical bridge between customers, engineering, CNC programming and production, ensuring engineered kits are manufacturable, released accurately, and supported through build, quality and delivery.

 

Day-to-day responsibilities of a Production Engineer

• Support sales with technical support during the quoting process
• Develop and engineer foam and reinforcement kits, machined metallic/composite components and tooling patterns from 2D and 3D customer information
• Be the main technical point of contact with the customer after the quote has been accepted
• Identify design for manufacture and kit optimisation opportunities throughout the engineering phase
• Investigate special material or tooling requirements
• Carry out production planning through creation of BOMs and routings on the MRP system
• Work closely with CNC programmers to refine and approve engineered kits
• Support the wider engineering team with development of CNC kits for manufactured metallics/composite components
• Produce accurate work instructions for the shopfloor
• Support the shopfloor with production and quality issues
• Up-issue CAD and work instructions based on customer information and internal improvements
• Carry out customer visits to assist with fitting and updating CNC kits (some account management)

• Proven experience in a manufacturing or engineering role within metallics/composites/woods
• Strong working knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD software
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
• Methodical approach to problem-solving
• Confident working with internal and external stakeholders

 

Desirable – Production Engineer

• Technical qualification in Engineering or a related discipline
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques
• Project management knowledge and experience
