Senior Design Engineer

We are currently partnering with a well-known design and manufacturing business in Dorset, who deliver customised leading technology and services. They were established many years ago and have over doubled their turnover.  They sell a diverse range of products to a large variety of markets. As a growing forward-thinking business, they’re now looking to recruit a Senior Design Engineer to join their team.
 
As Senior Design Engineer you will be responsible for the development of new products, design to cost, design for manufacturing, prototyping and support of new products introductions.

Key responsibilities as Senior Design Engineer:

• Collaborate fully with Manufacturing, Production Engineering, Purchasing, Applications, Tests, Quality and the Project Manager on new product launches or projects
• To undertake FEA simulation and calculations through studies to validate the design
• Take ownership of new projects from technical specifications from cradle to grave
• Generate engineering CAD models, drawings, and bill of materials, producing top quality work every time
• Optimise existing volume products focusing on Design for Manufacture, reduce material cost and improved performance

Experience as Senior Design Engineer:

• Experience using Solidworks
• Degree in Mechanical or Electromechanical Engineering
• Previous experience as a Senior Design Engineer
• Broad knowledge of Engineering and expertise
• Experience of castings, mouldings, machined components, and assembly
• Approval knowledge: UKCA, CE, UL, IP and EMC
• Manufacturing ERP system (Priority, IFS, SAP or others)
• Knowledge of modern design, development techniques and best practice
• Excellent IT Skills
• Proven track record of prioritising in a diverse and busy environment, managing simultaneous projects in parallel
