Production Engineer Overview

Are you a detail-orientated and organised individual with a passion for engineering and manufacturing technical support?

Holt Engineering are seeking a talented Technical Production Engineer to join our client in Andover. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the smooth operation of their manufacturing processes for the complete lifecycle of their components. The company produces a variety of complex mechanical components for industries including Aerospace, Defence, Motorsport, Pharmaceutical, Oil & gas and Marine industries.

Production Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Document Review: Thoroughly review written work instructions, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and adherence to customer requirements and company standards.
  • Purchase Order Management: Acknowledge and process purchase orders promptly, verifying accuracy and resolving discrepancies.
  • Tooling and Material Management: Coordinate tooling requirements, purchase new tools, and maintain adequate stock levels.
  • Job Planning: Create detailed job plans, including tracking sheets, drill sheets, and FAIR sheets.
  • Subcontractor Management: Raise and check work instructions for subcontractors, ensuring clear communication and timely delivery.
  • Supplier Liaison: Request quotes, ensure correct specifications, and negotiate the best prices.
  • Quality Assurance: Adhere to quality management systems (AS9100 and ISO 9001) and customer-specific requirements.
  • Customer Communication: Maintain professional communication with customers, keeping them informed of progress and addressing any issues.
  • Non-Conformance Reporting: Assist in recording non-conforming products and implementing corrective actions.
  • Additional Duties: Undertake additional tasks as required to support the team.

Production Engineer Requirements:

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Previous machining background is desirable but not essential. 
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools and systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills across multiple departments.
  • A proactive and problem-solving mindset.
