Mechanical Fitter
We are currently on the lookout for a Mechanical Fitter to join our client who specialises in producing high-quality, technically challenging Stainless Steel & iron castings.Â
The ideal candidate is a crucial member of an engineering team, who is able to maintain a high level of reliability, punctuality, determination and organisation. The role requires excellent communication skills and a positive attitude as you are going to assist team members to complete daily tasks for the department.
Mechanical Fitter responsibilities:
- Undertaking fault diagnosis and repairing in a heavy engineering foundry environment
- Ensuring that the foundry plant and ancillary equipment are always operated efficiently
- Routine maintenance, lubrication schedules and safety-related parts of machinery checks
- Preparing all work reports/checklists
- Supervising and controlling subcontractors on site, ensuring the company’s policy is implemented including review of method statements and permits to work
Mechanical Fitter requirements:
- Previous foundry work experience is esential
- Understanding written instructions and complying with company processes and procedures
- Previous experience in installation, inspection, repair and maintenance of mechanical systems, equipment and components
- Repairing using techniques including MIG/ welding of ferrous metals, fabrication skills, manual machinist skills (lathe and vertical/horizontal milling and bench fitting and assembly
