Location: Tamworth
Salary: £35,000 – £45,000
Hours: Days, Monday to Thursday 08:00 – 17:00, Friday 08:00 – 14:30
Employment Type: Permanent

We are looking for a skilled Maintenance Engineer to support the reliable, safe, and efficient operation of production equipment, CNC machinery, and site infrastructure within a precision engineering environment.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, fault finding, and improvement activity across a busy manufacturing site. This is a hands-on role that requires strong mechanical and electrical maintenance skills, a proactive approach, and the ability to work independently.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver and maintain the planned preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Diagnose and repair machine faults to minimise downtime.
  • Carry out corrective maintenance, part replacement, and machine adjustments.
  • Monitor machine performance and breakdown trends, recommending reliability improvements.
  • Support process optimisation, machine upgrades, and tooling improvements.
  • Work with production to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, service logs, calibration certificates, and spare parts tracking.
  • Ensure all maintenance work complies with ISO standards and site requirements.
  • Support audits by providing maintenance history and compliance documentation.
  • Manage contractors on site and ensure RAMS are in place.
  • Support the installation of new equipment.
  • Carry out weekly fire alarm checks.
  • Promote a strong health, safety, and environmental culture at all times.

 

What we are looking for

  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer within precision engineering, machining, or a similar manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical skills.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Experience with CNC machinery
  • Confident working independently and managing multiple priorities.
  • Experience with TPM, lean manufacturing, or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
