Design Engineer

We are currently partnering with a global engineering group who deliver innovative engineering solutions to large global markets including iron and steel, oil and gas, petrochemical and automation.  A well-established business who over time have established a strong international reputation for excellence and innovation.
This business continues to demonstrate a healthy financial performance and proudly encourage employee progression and development. Our client is now currently looking for a Design Engineer to join the team
 
As Design Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting the Product Development Strategy delivering profitable organic growth and continuous improvement. The role is part of the Engineering Department and involves working effectively with the projects, production and quality engineering teams and manufacturing department

Key responsibilities as Design Engineer:

  • Drive current engineering, applying optimised designs for manufacturing methodology, assembly, and test processing
  • Maintain and apply lean principles to the engineering environment
  • Design product range derivatives, applying sound engineering practice in a time frame consistent with the business objectives
  • Apply product range knowledge and experience to design engineering, optimising value-added performance characteristics and functionality to gain competitive advantage
  • Compile engineering test reports as required in support of design validation
  • Apply awareness of relevant engineering standards, legislation, certification, and customer compliance requirements applicable to the product range ensuring that sales requirements are achieved
  • Create new part numbers and Bill of Materials using ERP/MRP system
  • Provide technical support and product training to production engineering and purchasing

Experience as Design Engineer:

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification or experience
  • Relevant experience in materials, mechanics, engineering mathematics, magnetic, fluid power, corrosion, stress, and thermodynamics
  • In depth understanding of modern manufacturing methods, inspection and assembly techniques within a precision CNC engineering and electronics environment
  • Able to evaluate processes, instigate continuous improvement, rationalisation and facilitate cost reduction opportunities
  • Proficient in engineering software as applicable 2D and 3D CAD, FEA, CFD, Mathcad MS Office, preferably using Autodesk platforms (AutoCAD, Inventor, Ansys)
