We are working with a recognised and renowned fabrication engineering business in the Reading area that are looking for Welders / Fabricators on a permanent contract in Tadley with an immediate start.
Welder / Fabricator responsibilities:
- Mig welding primarily with mild and stainless steel – Tig also valued
- Working to drawings for new products
- High standards set and attention to detail
- Welding to ranging tolerances dependent on material and product design
The successful Welder / Fabricator will have:
- Experience in previous welding / fabrication role(s) on architectural steel
- Mig / Tig welding competence
- Ability to work both in a team and individually
- Comfortable in travelling to venue for installation (if needed)

Production Engineer

As Production Engineer, you will be based within the operation team with responsibility for producing all relevant documentation, routings, procedures, tooling, and equipment to enable the successful and manufacture and testing of products for the Oil & Gas, Nuclear and Marine sectors
Key responsibilities as Production Engineer:
- Design jigs and fixtures using CAD (preferably 3D) for use in production, to ensure ease of use, consistency of manufacture and error proofing whilst following lean principles.
- Produce accurate and detailed production routes, specifying operation details, work centres and time estimates for the in-house manufacture of products
- Review and improve production processes using Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methods

- Liaise with the engineering department, reviewing new products before they are released into production, ensuring that all designs are fit for manufacture at the most efficient cost
- Use CAM software to produce programs, tool sheets, and set up sheets for a variety of mutli – axis CNC machines, including 5 axis turn -mill, sliding head turn mill and 5 axis milling
- Select and implement the introduction of new cutting tools, whilst interfacing with Manufacturing to identify the most cost-effective solution by following Lean principles
Experience as Production Engineer:
- Qualified to HNC level or actively working towards completion of a similar Mechanical or Production Engineering qualification with demonstrable experience working in an engineering-based role
- Possess a sound understanding of modern manufacturing methods
- Demonstrate an ability to evaluate processes through capability studies and equipment
- Demonstrable experience in use of Continuous Improvement Tools and techniques ie: VSM, SMED, TPM, Kaizen, 5’S, Error Proofing etc
- Able to build relationships with and gain respect of customers both internal and external
- Good Project Management skills

Salary – £34,000 per annum
Hours – 4 days on 4 days off, 7am-7pm & 7pm-7am
Location – Stonehouse, Gloucestershire
We are working with a huge manufacturing company, that are looking to add to their existing team with a Facilities Technician in the Gloucestershire area.
Responsibilities of Facilities Technician:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance to agreed schedules for:
- Weekly & daily checks including but not limited to: waste water, steam & combustion and refrigeration/cooling equipment.
- Valves, instruments etc & carry out CIL (cleaning, inspection & lubrication) schedule.
- To observe, recognise and report on machinery or component defects or symptoms of impending failure.
- To service adjust and repair machinery and equipment using the necessary tools.
- Use CMMS system effectively recording information accurately. Also, to use the CMMS historical data for fault trending and quick resolution for fault finding.
- Support improvement activities / events within facilities and engineering owned areas.
Requirements of Facilities Technician:
- Steam raising plant experience preferred.
- Waste water plant operation / maintenance experience desired.
- Knowledge of utilities plant such as cooling towers, refrigeration systems etc.
- Electrical or mechanical experience.
- Experience working in a processing or utilities environment.
- Experience of LOTO procedures beneficial.

Wiring to IPC-A-610 and to the wiring schedule and wiring diagrams. Build, assemble, wire and rework units as required and to perform a varied number of tasks within a production environment.
- To Undertake assembly and wiring of normal batch production equipment and related processes from written documentation.

Due to expansion an opportunity has opened up for a Fabricator at a world class manufacturer who are based just outside of Southampton. The company has been operating for over 70 years and specialises in unique engineering pipework, pipe systems and cooling networks which are used in an array of industries.
Skills needed for Fabricator
- A good awareness of using hand tools and hand power tools and able to learn to operate workshop tools and equipment
- Must learn to interpret engineering drawings and accurately measure and mark out components for fabrication
- Able to follow instructions as many fabrication skills are learnt through on-the-job training
Desirable additional skills
- Some understanding of the basic principles of the properties and uses of thermoplastics and thermosetting plastics would be advantageous
- Successful completion of an Apprenticeship in an engineering discipline or have achieved a relevant level 2 or 3 engineering qualification
- Also, IT qualification in Microsoft Office; Word, Excel and Outlook are desirable but not compulsory as full training will be provided
Responsibilities of Fabricator
- Working from engineering drawings to construct plastic pipe assemblies, tanks and vessels
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and production work orders
- Create and use templates and jigs
- Fabricate, assemble, form, reshape, rework and repair plastic products
- Mark out sheets and pipes using measuring and marking instruments
- Construct pipe spools, tanks and vessels using various cutting, drilling and bending tools including: power saws, routers, planes, sanders, knives, scrapers and bending devices
- Use plastic welding equipment to manufacture and construct fabricated items
- Understand plastics and bonding techniques using specialist precision tools and equipment
- Cut and prepare pipes, fittings and sheets for welding
- Assemble plastic components by using various welding and jointing techniques
- Carry out weld testing and inspection
- Assist other fabricators when required
Hours
Monday to Thursday 7am – 5pm
Friday 7am – 1pm
The normal hours include 39 hours at the basic rate plus 5 hours overtime at 1.33 (1 hour each day) = 44 hours per week
