Purchasing Manager

Our Poole-based client is looking to recruit an experienced Purchasing Manager to oversee the procurement process and ensure the efficiency of their supply chain. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing stock levels, negotiating with suppliers, and implementing strategies to optimise the purchasing process. The Purchasing Manager will lead a team and collaborate with other internal departments to meet organizational goals.

Responsibilities for Purchasing Manager

  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies to optimise supply chain processes and procedures
  • Manage stock levels to ensure customer inventory meets internal and external SLAs
  • Negotiate with suppliers to achieve cost savings and ensure quality of products
  • Oversee the management of supplier contracts and lead continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with finance and production departments to ensure adherence to purchasing strategies
  • Establish metrics and reporting reviews to track progress against KPIs
  • Manage overall and individual performance of the purchasing team
  • Identify training needs and provide coaching and development opportunities for the team
  • Lead global sourcing efforts and develop strategies to mitigate risks
  • Coordinate import and export activities in a cost-effective and compliant manner
  • Handle recruitment, training, and disciplinary actions for the purchasing team

Experience and Qualifications for Purchasing Manager

  • CIPS qualification preferred
  • Proven experience in purchasing and supply chain management
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team
  • Knowledge of import/export regulations and global sourcing practices
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Business acumen and commercial awareness

Day-to-Day for Purchasing Manager

  • Analysing stock levels and placing orders as needed
  • Contacting and negotiating with suppliers
  • Reviewing and updating purchasing strategies and procedures
  • Leading team meetings and guiding the purchasing team
  • Collaborating with finance and production departments to align purchasing strategies
  • Monitoring and reporting on key performance indicators
  • Handling import and export activities and ensuring compliance with regulations
  • Providing training and development opportunities for the team
  • Conducting performance evaluations and addressing disciplinary actions when necessary
