Planning Engineer

The Company:

My client, a market-leader in products and services for aircraft interior are Looking for a well accomplished Manufacturing Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. Utilising the best industry specialists, they manufacture, maintain, design and certify cabin interiors for the biggest airlines around. This is an opportunity you don’t want to miss!

They have a strong focus on production control and quality, with an ethos set deep in lean manufacturing, from engineering and project management, through to final release.

Purpose of a Planning Engineer

To provide Technical Support to the Project Managers and Production Staff for the manufacture of composite products for the Aerospace, Automotive, Marine and additional industries, working within the given timescales and budget.

Planning Engineer Key Responsibilities

  • Administer customer design data by data transfer and store in relevant project folders.
  • Identify top level and sub assembly requirements and generate plans for manufacturing.
  • Working with customer specifications identify all raw material requirements, bought out items, sub contract manufactured items and resource requirements to manufacture the first-off part, through into production.
  • Identify and support the manufacture of all tooling requirements to include, mould tools, CNC fixtures, Assembly fixtures & templates.
  • Control data transfer for Sub-contract manufacture.
  • Generate shop floor manufacturing Job Cards which include process instructions and BOM items.
  • Generate Process & layup Instruction documents for manufacturing methods.
  • Generate layup kit for kit cutter.
  • Identify all composite inserts that require manufacture i.e. rigid foam or aluminium inserts that require CAD design and manufacture.
  • Provide technical support to the shop floor throughout manufacture.
  • Support Estimating team during bid stages.

This is not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities. The successful job holder will be expected to perform varying tasks as required by their line manager & the overall objectives of the organisation.

Planning Engineer Requirements:

  • Competent in MS office software
  • CAD knowledge in Solidworks or Catia would be an advantage.
  • Competent in reading engineering drawings
  • A Degree in an engineering or scientific discipline (desirable)
  • Time served in a comparable role (essential)
  • Highly organised
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Self-motivated
  • Experience in supporting several concurrent projects
  • Experience in an engineering/design/project management environment
  • Experience of working in Aerospace manufacturing facility (desirable)
