Machine Tool Engineer

Reporting To: Maintenance Management Team
Supervisory Responsibility: Assist with training Somers apprentices (optional)

Machine Tool Engineer Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Machine Tool Engineer to join our dynamic Maintenance team. You will play a key role in ensuring the ongoing reliability and smooth operation of our plant equipment, buildings, and infrastructure. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to proactive maintenance strategies, implement new technologies, and share your knowledge by assisting with training our apprentices.

Machine Tool Engineer Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance Expertise: Perform both planned and reactive maintenance tasks on a variety of plant equipment and machinery, ensuring their optimal performance.
  • Proactive Approach: Work strategically to improve overall plant reliability through proactive maintenance practices and planned maintenance scheduling.
  • Technology Implementation: Assist in the implementation and ongoing updates of the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to improve maintenance efficiency.
  • Departmental Collaboration: Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to work collaboratively with other departments as required.
  • Adaptability and Growth: Be open to taking on additional responsibilities and continuously develop your technical skills.
  • Apprenticeship Support (Optional): Assist the Maintenance Management team in training Somers apprentices on machine tool maintenance principles (optional).

Machine Tool Engineer requirements:

  • Strong understanding of mechanical principles and their application in machine tools.
  • Experience in performing preventative and corrective maintenance tasks.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance.
  • A working knowledge of CMMS systems is a plus.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A strong commitment to safety and a focus on continuous improvement.
