Electronic Inspector

My client, a full system life-cycle manufacturer of secure communication systems, antennas, image technology and embedded computing are looking for a Electronic Inspector to join their growing team in Tewkesbury. Their products can be found transmitting high bandwidth data across hostile terrain, enabling secure ticket sales on trains, processing colossal amounts of data or gathering scientific insight in the cold and crushing depths of the ocean floor!

As a Electronic Inspector you’ll ensure manufactured products meet customer requirements using the right tools and guidelines. You’ll also inspect incoming goods to verify quality. Exceptional attention to detail, reliability, commitment, and quality standards knowledge are essential.

Electronic Inspector Responsibilities 

Quality Assurance:

  • Conduct thorough inspections (technical and visual) of manufactured parts and incoming materials to ensure they meet strict product specifications and identify any defects.
  • Interpret technical drawings and instructions to gain a clear understanding of quality expectations for both produced items and purchased supplies.
  • Maintain meticulous records of all identified defects and non-conformances.
  • Proactively report quality issues to the Quality Engineer when necessary.

Non-Conformance Management:

  • Take full ownership of non-conformance issues, including recording, processing, and managing all returns.

Customer Interaction:

  • Collaborate directly with customer quality representatives during product inspections.

Process Improvement:

  • Actively provide feedback and suggestions to the Quality Engineer on how to improve existing quality processes.

Compliance & Quality Systems:

  • Strictly adhere to all company-outlined GDPR and quality policies and standards.
  • Play a vital role in supporting the business in achieving and maintaining QMS (Quality Management System) certification to ISO 9001:2015 standards.
  • Manage equipment calibration renewals and maintain a comprehensive calibration register.

Flexibility & Additional Duties:

  • Be adaptable and prepared to undertake additional tasks and duties across various areas of the business as directed by management. This may involve tasks outside your usual scope.


Key Competencies:

  • Meticulous Attention to Detail: You possess a keen eye for identifying even the smallest discrepancies to ensure product quality.
  • Proven Quality Experience: You have demonstrable experience as a Quality Inspector or a similar role, ideally within an electronics-based product manufacturing environment.
  • Electronics Expertise: You are familiar with electronic/electrical components and cabling, understanding their functionalities and potential issues.
  • Technical Understanding: You can effectively interpret engineering drawings and data sheets to comprehend product specifications and inspection requirements.
  • Testing Proficiency: You are skilled in using various test and measurement equipment to conduct thorough product evaluations.
  • Effective Communication: You possess strong interpersonal skills, allowing you to collaborate effectively with colleagues and customers.
  • Teamwork & Independence: You can thrive in both team-oriented settings and demonstrate initiative when working independently.
  • Clear Communication: You have excellent verbal and written communication skills, enabling you to clearly document findings and negotiate solutions as necessary.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: You can effectively identify and troubleshoot product issues, proposing solutions to maintain quality standards.
  • Tech-Savvy: You are proficient in using Microsoft Office packages, allowing you to efficiently document inspection data and reports.

Useful Additional Experience (Advantages):

  • Industry Standards: You have previous experience adhering to IPC-A-610/ IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards, demonstrating your understanding of electronics manufacturing best practices.
  • Defense Standards Knowledge: Prior experience working with DEF-STANs would be beneficial, particularly if the role involves products subject to such regulations.
  • Calibration Expertise: Experience in a calibration role or working with calibration equipment would be a valuable asset.
