CNC Turner Programmer
Ferndown
Nights – £21.00 to £22.00 per hour
 
We are recruiting for an experienced CNC Turner Programmer to join a well-established precision engineering manufacturer supplying the aerospace and defence sectors in Ferndown. This is a full-time, permanent night-shift role for a CNC Turner Programmer who enjoys full ownership of the turning process, from programming through to final inspection.
 
As the CNC Turner Programmer, you will work on Mazak CNC turning centres, producing high-precision, safety-critical components to exacting standards. The CNC Turner Programmer will be confident working independently, developing machining strategies, and maintaining consistent quality and efficiency in a regulated manufacturing environment.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Program Mazak CNC lathes using Mazatrol, SmoothX, SmoothG, or ISO G-code
• Develop machining strategies and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
• Set and operate Mazak machines including Quick Turn, Nexus, Smooth, and Integrex
• Install and measure tooling, set work and tool offsets, and safely prove programs
• Run production, adjust offsets, and change inserts and tooling as required
• Complete first-off and in-process inspection using precision measuring equipment
• Record quality data and resolve machining issues such as chatter, taper, or finish
• Carry out routine machine maintenance and maintain 5S standards

Essential Skills and Experience

• Proven experience as a CNC Turner Programmer
• Strong background programming and setting Mazak CNC turning centres
• Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T
• Methodical approach with strong attention to detail and quality
• Comfortable managing the full turning process from program creation to inspection

Desirable Experience

• Experience with Integrex machines or live tooling
• CAM knowledge such as Mastercam
• Lean manufacturing or 5S experience
• Forklift or crane certification
• Level 3 or Level 4 engineering qualification or completed apprenticeship
