Our client is a global group of businesses providing complex engineering solutions to industries such as defence, energy production, aerospace, environmental, oceanographic, industrial, robotics, medical, life sciences, and transportation. They are renowned for their performance-critical solutions, designed for specialist and harsh environments.

A part of the group is embarking on an exciting growth period and required assistance for a role created due to the succession of a highly experienced staff member. The focus was on finding someone who could continue to drive the company forward.

Holt Engineering Recruitment met with our client at their headquarters and main manufacturing facility. Additionally, we held multiple Teams meetings with various stakeholders to understand their mission and generate a tailored plan of action to achieve maximum results for the client.

The Challenge

With a highly experienced staff member nearing retirement, the client needed to find someone capable of covering the core responsibilities of the position while also being innovative and forward-thinking to support the company's vision during this period of growth and expansion. This required a candidate with both technical knowledge and data analysis experience, though the exact balance of each was unclear to the client.

Taking this into account, the client understood that finding the right person for both the current need and the future vision of the business would be a time-consuming process.

These sessions provided guidance on questions to avoid during interviews based on the nine protected statuses, emphasised the importance of feedback which enabled us to tailor our searches and offered advice on handling applications to ensure candidates had a great experience.

After the training, the client's communication improved dramatically, allowing us to fill several other roles, including the one mentioned in this case study.

Result

Two of these candidates were taken to the final stage. By working closely with the client to fully understand their current and future needs, one candidate was offered and accepted the position, covering the initial requirement. The second candidate is being considered for an additional role within the business due to their relevance and fit with the company's future vision.
